• preview page shows first 1,000 characters, and a link to see more
• full page shows the whole thing, behind a password
• a small gate/proxy server accepts micropayments and serves the full version at /gated

Smart contracts and semi-anonymous accounts promise to replace all payments and accounting costs. This used to be a paid service, for companies like Beehiiv to handle payments, subscriptions, billing.

Now, we can get the entire stack at zero cost (outside of paying for a domain name). The only thing we miss is gathering email addresses, which, quiet-part-out-loud may be the entire point for most creators with ambitions to upsell their readers.
